Tips On Preparing For The Holidays

This is Thanksgiving weekend.  How did you do asfar as preparing for the holidays regarding meals?  Was it a lot of work?  Was the dinner successful?  Were you stressed out before serving dinner?  Do you think you went over your budget for food?   I will tell how to prepear meals for you your next holiday feast.  That will help you take the stress out of buying ingredients at the last moment, italsogives extra time in advance to find out what's on sal at your local supermarket and look up new recipes you want to try for your big dinner.

1. Make a list of meals you're planning on serving and jot gown certain recipes qyou want to add or try 2 months in advance

2.  Buy dry ingredients 1 month in advantance

3.  Buy extra cookware, bakeware and dinner set 3 weeks in advance.  You can also buy dining table decor if you're a festive type.

4.  Buy canned goods 2 weeks in advance

5.  Buy seasonings, herbs, spices, sauces and condiments 1 week in advance.

6.  Buy drinks 5 days in advance.  This is also good time to buy turkey or any main course, especially when they sell at discount prices. 

7.  Buy wet ingreients and produce 3 days in advance

8.  Buy dairy products 2 days in advance.

9.  Clean and soak your turkey 24 hours in advance.

10. Prepare pies cakes, maconi and stuffing 12 hours in advance

11. Dress your turkey and fill in stuffing

12. Refrigerate your pastries

13. Place turkey in the oven.  Set it at 350 degrees for 6 hours.  Timers are real helpful, so it's recommended.

14. Cook side dishes and prepare drinks.

15. When done with the side dishes you may either take a short break (say thirty minutes to an hour) or decorate the table if you want your presentation to look festive.

16. Set aside your side dishes and prepare your fruit cups if you're planning to serve them as pre dinner cocktails.

17. When your turkey is done, take it out of the oven and bake your last minute pastires and dishes like muffins and buscuits.

If you got coupons, use them.  They can save you money, even when food is on sale.  Have fun and enjoy your holiday.
